I really don't watch much tv, let alone reality shows. I used to watch American Idol years ago, but lost interest. Having said that, I stumbled upon The Voice last year and ended up discovering my new favorite singer of all time. So that's one reason I loved the show. I loved that it introduced me to new music and new songs, and also renewed my interest in old classics... (last season, Stevie Nicks)..... New discoveries from last season: The Script and One Republic. Season 2 has been pretty disappointing..... Old classics: Heart, Pat Benatar...... new discoveries..... um, not many. Trey Songz "Say Aah".... didn't even like the original.... but finally found a fun one yesterday. The Heavy:

i love it when you first hear a song, and it immediately catches your ear. you listen more intently, as you try to remember lyrics so you can look it up once you get home. (this is before, Shazam, obviously)....


it doesn't happen very often since I don't listen to the radio much, but this song grabbed my attention, and sounded so familiar. Sure enough, it was The Head and The Heart!

the avett brothers

i discovered The Avett Brothers when Dia Frampton did a cover of one of their songs. i saw them perform at The Grammy Awards with Mumford and Sons and Bob Dylan, though at the time, I didn't know who they were.

i was able to see Jarrod Gorbel accompanied by Dre Babinski as they opened for Dia Frampton at the Troubadour. of course this song sounded much better live.... currently stuck in my head:

i am pretty sure this is the song that Brad Pitt's daughter in the movie Moneyball was singing. so cute!

yes it pleases me that my kid asks me to play Madness. sure, he learned it from Just Dance 3, and sure he calls it "camel song" bc of the camel in the video game. but hey. whatever.
